Aurifil s 2-ply, 40-weight Mako Cotton Variegated Thread is slightly thicker than their 50-weight. The variegated thread also is a mixture of colors instead of just one solid color. The mix of colors gives you many options for different styles of sewing! The 40-weight is excellent for needing a more defined pattern or design. Mako Cotton Varigated 40wt Thread produces essentially no lint, making it ideal for single double triple strand cross-stitching, hand piecing, bobbin and machine lace, applique, embroidery, edge-to-edge, pantographs, and custom longarm quilting. Aurifil has all its thread mercerized to give the strands strength and a vibrant sheen. Aurifil thread is famous for its versatility, durability, and radiant color. To get the best results, Aurifil recommends that you use a size 80 12 microtex sharp, universal, or denim needle for everyday sewing, a 90 14 or 75 11 when quilting, and a 3.4 or 4.0 needle when quilting with a longarm.
